Ryan Newman is Nascar's greatest qualifier. Unfortunately for the 12 team in
2005, they just couldn't seem to equate that to wins. Ryan recorded his lone
win of the 2005 Nascar Nextel Cup season in Loudon New Hampshire this summer.
He did however lead the series in poles with eight. This was an off year for Ryan
as he had two wins and nine poles in 2004 and eight wins and 11 poles in 2003 which
was by far his best year in the cup series.
Many changes are happening for this team in 2006. His longtime teammate Rusty
Wallace retired from competition following the 2005 season and is being
replaced by Kurt Busch. Ryan and Rusty never got along well, and their teams
didn't share information at the track. Ryan is not the senior driver of this
team. Lets hope he can take a leadership role and promote teamwork in an effort
to make both teams stronger. Look for another strong year from this team in
2006. While I don't predict a championship in 2006, I look for a top four
finish in points from this team. I also look for several wins on the Nascar
Nextel Cup level.
