Tony Stewart is the 2005 Nextel Cup Champion. What else is there to say about
him? During the entire 2005 season, no other driver performed as consistently
at the level that Tony Stewart performed. Not only did Stewart perform
spectacularly this season, he has excelled throughout his entire driving
career. Since his rookie year in 1999, Stewart is the only driver to win
multiple championships. He also leads the series in top tens, and lead lap
finishes. Stewart is also in the top three in wins, top five finishes, and laps
led.
All of those statistics point to someone being an excellent driver. Stewart
however had several years filled with turmoil and stress. He finally has seemed
to come to peace with himself, and his position in the sport as well as life,
and this can only lead to better things in the future.
